Darkness for light

Men often contradict God, calling evil good and good evil. This audio devotional from Isaiah 5:20 explains how we can do right with joy in their midst.

Isaiah 5:20 “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!”

In every age, wicked men promote a counterfeit good and a false evil.

Their definitions contradict God.

That which He calls wickedness is applauded and encouraged in a culture like this. While people who do God’s will are often considered the worst in society.

There is no truth or reality in circumstances such as this and followers of God can be left frustrated and angry by the world’s injustice.

But God hears and sees and knows all. Their lies are only a cover and a justification for sin. Woe unto them.

They should never prevent believers from pursuing righteousness. While they may impose a temporary penalty for doing good, God provides an eternal reward.

Faithful people who embrace this truth can go about doing right joyfully, even when the world seems upside down.

Isaiah 5:20 “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!”
