Even the wind and the sea
Even the wind and the sea
Mark 4:41 "And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?"
Jesus and His disciples were in the midst of a storm on Sea of Galilee.
When the wind came up and the waves began to beat upon the ship, it started to take on water.
Jesus was sleeping in the stern, but the disciples woke Him up. They said "Teacher, don't you care, we are perishing."
It was at that point Jesus gave a command to the wind and sea: "peace be still." The wind and the sea obeyed and there was a great calm.
This verse is the response from His followers. They fear and ask each other what manner of man He is.
Those of us reading the narrative and knowing even a little Christology could explain it to them. He is the Creator and the Lord over all creation.
He is the One who holds all things together. The Lord over every lord and the King over every king. He is the express image of God. Every knee will bow before Him and every tongue will confess that He is Lord.
This is why the wind and the sea obey.
Mark 4:41 "And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?"
