I will ascend
Isaiah 14:13-14 “For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.”
We know based on verse 12 that this passage speaks of Lucifer, son of the morning.
He was the “shining one,” likely the king of Babylon who exhibited the same arrogance of our enemy, Satan, before him.
Both would be cast down by the One they had the desire to outshine. Brought down to hell, a deep pit, the place of death, when they longed to be exalted.
But there is no other beside our God.
It is a wicked heart that seeks to usurp Him in glory or in radiance. It cannot and will not be done.
He is the self-existent One, while they exist because of Him. He has no beginning and no end, while their end is certain.
Our God is the most High. No other can compare to Him.
