Inspiration of God
Inspiration of God
II Timothy 3:16-17 “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.”
This is the most complete, single description of the Bible that we have.
It provides for us an explanation of its origins and its uses in the world.
The scriptures were given by inspiration of God, that is, they were breathed out by God.
And they are useful. They provide foundational teaching, reprove us when we need it, set us back on the right path, and give us training.
We are perfected by the word of God, that is, He completes us in exactly the way He intends through them.
And as we are changed by them, we do good works. Of course, never to gain favor with God, but because we are so thankful that God has already shown us favor through grace.
Jesus said we would be set apart for His use through the scriptures. They are indispensable in our process of growth as a disciple.
