Neither had I rest

Neither had I rest

Job 3:25-26 “For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me. I was not in safety, neither had I rest, neither was I quiet; yet trouble came.”

We’ve come to the place where Job laments the things that have come upon him.

We know the trouble he is facing – many of the things we fear ourselves.

Such as, the loss of our possessions, the loss of our families, dangerous and painful health problems, and all the stresses and mental strains that come with them.

Job is a spiritual man, but he has fears, and we can identify.

He’s at a place now, as he confesses in the text, where he can’t calm down or rest. When he tries to rest, his troubles weigh upon him.

We should remember as we read, that we have already been told that Job maintains his integrity through this.

The knowledge that he is afraid and can’t sleep for the stress should give us hope. Dealing with pain is not a sin, it is losing our hope and faith in God, because of the pain, that displeases Him.

Job 3:25-26 “For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me. I was not in safety, neither had I rest, neither was I quiet; yet trouble came.”
