The great goodness

This audio devotional describes the great goodness of God toward Israel. Looking at Isaiah 63:7, we will explore God's mercies and God's lovingkindnesses.

The great goodness

Isaiah 63:7 "I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the LORD, and the praises of the LORD, according to all that the LORD hath bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he hath bestowed on them according to his mercies, and according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses."

We find examples of God's goodness to Israel throughout the Old Testament.

These are examples we use regularly today to explain the character of our God.

His lovingkindness is obvious. His mercies are clear.

He blessed this people who routinely disobeyed, often murmured against Him (and His chosen leaders), and regularly failed to have faith in Him.

He did this because of who He is, not because of who they were.

In a "multitude of his lovingkindnesses" He shows what type of God He really is. And we, who have embraced His son Jesus, are keenly aware of it.

For rescue from sin alone our praises should ring out. But He has done so much more, giving us abundant life, peace of mind, and joy unspeakable.

A mention of His lovingkindness would not go amiss.
