Them that feared

Malachi 3:16 “Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.”

In this day, many in Israel failed to honor God as they should. Read the opening chapters to hear the prophet’s rebuke of the people and their priests.

Some remained in Israel, that feared God. These faithful people had a certain unity.

Malachi says they spoke to one another often.

When they did, the Lord heard. And He made a record of who they were.

Their words were apparently words of reverence and love toward God. They were the people that thought upon His name or esteemed His name.

These in the minority, on the fringes of the wider culture, were recognized by God.

Their discussions of Him could earn them no favor in religious society at the time. They were certainly genuine and from the heart.

God always sees the reality of who we are and what we believe. This can be either an encouragement or a cause for dread.

Malachi 3:16 “Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.”
