They were fishers

They were fishers

Mark 1:16-17 "Now as he walked by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men."

Jesus meets two fishermen on His walk, which He asks to follow Him.

He is asking them to leave their occupation and become one of His disciples.

This was a big decision for them to make, but they both left their nets immediately.

For those of us who understand the meaning of Jesus' comment about making them fishers of men, we know they did the right thing.

Men throughout this great sea of earth are in need of rescue, lest they drown. Only Jesus can provide that rescue.

Simon and Andrew would be part of the great commission fleet that would set sail with Him now. And many would be brought in - saved for all eternity.

Believers in Christ hearing this will today are part of the greater, long-term catch.

We should be thankful for the part they played and the model they provided as our examples.

Mark 1:16-17 "Now as he walked by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men."
